Equity research

Research drives our investment process for the vast majority of our managed assets. It helps us identify global themes and uncover equity value before others do. In other words, it gives us the leading edge. Industry and sector analysts around the world operate as an integrated global team, helping us to use insights gained in one market to exploit opportunities in another.

Research Analysts aren't hidden from view. Quite the reverse in fact. Much of the time they're out there talking to senior industry figures or key opinion formers, attending international conferences or flying to meetings with colleagues around the world. You can expect to be involved in new business presentations and regular review meetings with Fund Managers, who rely on you as their eyes, ears and partners in the decision making.

Information comes at you from all sides, some of it useful, much of it worthless. It's your job to sift and probe, to see through PR and establish the true picture. Only then can you be confident in your investment recommendation to Fund Managers, who'll challenge your ideas to see if they really hold true.

Initially, you'll be mentored by a senior analyst - watching, learning, attending meetings and building experience across a range of industry sectors to see how different factors affect different stocks. A mix of on-the-job experience, formal training and professional studies will develop your confidence in yourself and the company's faith in you. Over time, you'll be given a freer rein to make your own recommendations from RCM's own primary research. After 2 years or so, we'd expect you to take on some serious responsibility and make an increasing impact on investment decisions and new business presentations.
